MYOB is updating the MYOB Business API
This is to introduce granular data scopes, improving data privacy, transparency, and security across their ecosystem. As part of these changes, MYOB is requiring all connected apps, including Calxa, to use a new consent and authorisation flow.
⚠️ Because this is a mandatory MYOB change, all Calxa customers using MYOB Business will need to reconnect their organisations by 1 September 2026 to avoid any disruption.
Why MYOB is Making This Change
According to MYOB’s announcement, the new granular scopes:
Give users clearer visibility over what data an app can access
Provide developers more precise control over requested data
Strengthen privacy and security across the MYOB app ecosystem
What You Need to Do
TIP 💡Each MYOB Business organisation connected to Calxa must be re-authorised individually by a user with the MYOB Administrator Permission.
How to reconnect
From the Banner Message click RECONNECT NOW
Click Connect to MYOB
Follow the MYOB login and consent flow
Once authorised, syncing will resume as normal
For full step‑by‑step instructions including screenshots, see: Reconnect a MYOB Business organisation
Note 💬 the Connect to MYOB button replaces SYNC NOW until the reconnection is complete, so if you don't see this button the reconnect has already been completed.
Important Changes to Authorisation
1. Only an MYOB Admin can authorise the connection
This is a new MYOB requirement. Previously, any user with access could connect Calxa. Now, only an Administrator user of the MYOB company file can complete the consent flow.
If you are not the MYOB Administrator, you will need to choose one of the following options to authorise:
Invite the MYOB Administrator to Calxa as a Co‑Owner so they can complete the connection, or
Ask them to temporarily update your role in MYOB to allow you to authorise the integration
The authorisation will still work after your admin privileges are revoked
This requirement is controlled entirely by MYOB and cannot be overridden by Calxa.
2. Authorisation is now per‑organisation
Because MYOB now scopes access to a single organisation at a time, you must reconnect each MYOB Business organisation individually.
What You’ll See in Calxa Until Reconnection Is Complete
Customers will notice several changes until all organisations have been reconnected:
Banner message indicating reconnection is required
This banner cannot be dismissed until the new authorisation is complete
Connect to MYOB button replaces Sync Now
Daily syncs will continue using the old connection until 31 August 2026
Manual syncs are disabled
Attempting a manual sync triggers the new MYOB consent flow
Email reminders
In the final two weeks before 1 September, each daily sync using an old connection will send an email reminder to reconnect
What Happens If You Don’t Reconnect by 1 September 2026
If the reconnection isn’t completed by the deadline, MYOB will block the connection and your MYOB Business organisation will stop syncing with Calxa until the new authorisation flow is completed.
