How can I import departments or cost centres to a manual organisation?

We use the generic term "Business Unit" to cover departments, cost centres, jobs, projects, tracking categories, programs - any division within your business.

From Organisation Sync, Import Data you can export a template and then import the business units you need for your manual organisation.

How to import your Business Units or Cost Centres

  1. Export a template

    1. Navigate to Settings, Organisation Settings, Organisation Sync, Import Data

    2. Select Business Units

    3. As you have no categories yet, describe what you are importing, whether that's department, location, cost centre, project or job.

    4. Select the option to export a template
      ​

  2. Modify the template to suit your departments or projects

    1. The template structure is very simple

      1. Populate the business unit name and number columns
        ​

      2. Both the number and name are required fields

  3. Import the template

    1. Navigate to Settings, Organisation Settings, Organisation Sync, Import Data

    2. Select Business Units

    3. Browse for the template you have just updated and import it.
      ​

    4. We will verify the data for consistency and then complete the import.

    5. Review the imported list in Settings, Organisation Settings, Business Unit Lists
