Repeating Multi‑Period groups let you create a set of columns that automatically repeat across successive reporting periods. Use this when you want the same column structure, such as Actual, Budget or Variance, to repeat monthly, quarterly or yearly. The number and length of periods are controlled by the Report Periods setting.
To get started, open your Dynamic Template and click Edit Template.
Add a Repeating Multi-period column
In the Dynamic Template Builder, click + ADD COLUMN, select the Repeating Multi-period option, and continue with NEXT STEP.
Next, choose Actual or Budget to define the first column in the group, then click ADD COLUMN.
Add additional columns into the group
Make sure the group (or any column within it) is selected in the builder, then click
+ ADD COLUMN.
From the drop down, choose the Column Type required and ADD COLUMN
Continue to add columns to your group in this way as required, providing a column in the group is still selected, the new Column will be automatically added to the SAME group.
TIP 💡To add a new top‑level column or group, make sure no existing group is selected. If a group is highlighted, simply click it again to deselect, or select another top-level single column such as the Account column.
Repeating Multi-period criteria
Select the column Group header in the builder to set the group criteria on the right.
Note 💬 The 🔁 icon and the number 3 in the above example indicate the number of repeated periods, meaning this group of columns will appear three times in the final report.
Column headings
Group Header
By default, the Group Header displays the Period Range placeholder. You can type directly into the cell to use your own wording, with or without the dynamic placeholder.
Because this heading will repeat across multiple periods in the generated report, the information panel below shows a preview of every Group header that will be created, based on your current selection.

This setting will define the number of times the Group of columns will be repeated within your report for consecutive periods. Set the Period Type, Start Period, and End Period or Number of Periods to be reported overall.
Period type: Monthly, Bi-Monthly, Quarterly, 6 Monthly or Yearly values
Start period: select a predefined selection for most common start periods or use Custom to define another period
End period: contains two options to define where the consecutive periods end, The information panel below each setting will show the actual dates reported.
End period: select a predefined selection for most common end periods or use Custom to define another period
Number of periods: set a number of periods such as 12 months, 8 quarters or 5 Years

This section lists the columns in the group. You can reorder them by dragging the ⋮⋮ handle or add additional columns using the + ADD COLUMN button. These actions are also available in the main builder column view, but this panel gives you a focused view of the group’s contents.
